Sukkot
soo·kowt
The Jewish holiday Sukkot starts five days after the High Holy Day of Yom Kippur and is named after shelters called sukkahs that Jews build to remind them of the ancestral 40 years spent wandering in the desert after escaping slavery in ancient Egypt. Lasting one week, Sukkot also celebrates the bounty of the seasonal harvest.
