Even the most promising students face challenges after high school. To support these students, OVPDEMA sponsors scholarships and scholars programs for current and incoming IU students, specifically those from underrepresented and minority backgrounds.

Bruce Shuck Family Native American Scholarship
The Bruce Shuck Family Native American Scholarship supports undergraduate and graduate students who demonstrate financial need, with preference to students of Native American descent.
Carrie Parker Taylor Scholarship
The Carrie Parker Taylor Scholarship is named after the first African American woman to enroll at IU. Applicants must be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior and a participant within OVPDEMA programs (such as 21st Century, FASE, Groups Scholars Program, or Hudson and Holland Scholars Program). Priority will be given to first-generation college students with demonstrated financial need.
Wilma A. and Charles E. Harry, IV Family Scholarship
This scholarship account was established as a family legacy by Jill Harry Rahman and Janet Harry, daughters of the late Charles and Wilma Harry, who both received their undergraduate and graduate degrees from Indiana University. Funds from this account will support a minimum of two annual scholarships for students in the Hudson & Holland Scholars Program. Special consideration will be given to underrepresented populations, included but not limited to financially challenged students, and/or students with diverse cultural experiences. Preferences will be given to African American students pursuing degrees in the School of Education or the School of Social Work.
Charlie and Jeanetta Nelms Bloomington Campus Scholarship
The Charlie and Jeanetta Nelms scholarship seeks to support incoming fall 2021 freshmen on the Bloomington campus from the Indianapolis public school or Gary public school system. Priority will be given to students majoring in education, nursing, informatics, or life sciences. This scholarship is renewable for up to four years with the maintenance of a 2.75 GPA and a letter of reference from an academic advisor or faculty member.
Hannah Wilson Memorial Service Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Hannah's friends with the blessing of her 
family in order to continue to keep Hannah's legacy alive at Indiana University. Hannah was a college senior two weeks away from graduating when her life was tragically taken. Hannah received her degree posthumously in Psychology and had planned to go to graduate school to pursue a career in counseling for the LGTBQ+ community. Hannah was a fierce ally of the LGBTQ+ community and volunteered at the LGBTQ+ Center during her time at IU. Funds from this account will be used to support scholarships for undergraduate or graduate students who are pursuing a degree in Counseling, Sexual Health, Psychology or a field dedicated to helping others and represent LGBTQ+ interests through involvement on the Bloomington Campus.

James D. Fielding Student Advocacy & Leadership Award
The James D. Fielding Student Advocacy & Leadership Award will provide preference to training and development activities on LGBTQ+ issues with the ultimate goal of building future leaders and advocates for civil and human rights. The Award makes possible and accessible, training and development activities for full-time undergraduate or graduate students, Indiana University students from any campus.
Jan Marie Carroll Bicentennial Scholarship
This scholarship accepts applications from undergraduate or graduate students on any IU campus pursuing a non-general studies degree and have a minimum GPA of at least 3.3. Students must demonstrate financial need as determined by the IU Office of Financial Aid. Students from underrepresented populations, including financially challenged students, will be given primary consideration, and donor prefers female students. This scholarship will be renewable upon yearly review.

Jeffery Haynes Hillis LGBTQ+ Scholarship
The Jeffery Haynes Hillis LGBTQ+ Scholarship will be awarded to one full-time LGBTQ+ student from the Bloomington campus. The recipient will demonstrate leadership on LGBTQ+ issues on campus and/or in the community. The recipient selected may demonstrate financial hardship, be from a diverse background, or identify as a member of an underrepresented population.

Joon Park Student Leadership Scholarship
The Joon Park Student Leadership Scholarship awards one IU undergraduate student $1,000 to attend a conference or workshop focused on community engagement or community advocacy, or to attend an academic or professional development workshop. Special preference will be given to an undergraduate student who has been invited to present his or her work at a conference, or who has shown leadership experience on campus.
Johnson Underrepresented Student Scholarship
To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must be undergraduate or graduate students from any IU campus. Recipients must be Indiana residents from the Indianapolis Public Schools District (IPS) and Marion County Township Schools in Indiana, excluding public and private charter schools. Preference will be given to African American students. Special consideration will be given to underrepresented populations, first-generation college students, and students with demonstrated financial hardship. Consideration will be extended to students enrolled in the Center for Real Estate Studies.
The late Reverend Dr. Butler serves as a role model for me. I hope one day I will be able to help others achieve their goals just as this scholarship has helped me.

Reverend Dr. Ernest D. Butler Humanitarian Scholarship
The Reverend Dr. Ernest D. Butler Humanitarian Scholarship assists incoming or currently enrolled full-time students with a demonstrated commitment to religious and community involvement. Special consideration will be given to underrepresented populations, including financially challenged students, and/or those with diverse cultural backgrounds. The scholarship will be renewable for up to four years for undergraduate students, and up to 3 years for graduate students.
