A number of cultural centers on campus can be used to enhance an instructor’s curriculum, classroom techniques, and assist students in the acquisition of specific knowledge, development of organized skills, and engagement in diversity-related experiences that lead to useful competencies.

Faculty members are tasked with the responsibility of creating safe spaces for students. In these classroom spaces, students grapple with real-world discrepancies in beliefs, ideologies, values, and/or opinions. This response guide offers six steps to apply when planning and responding to hot topics in your classroom. A hot topics issue is any subject matter that seems to divide students on the stance they take toward the stated issue.
