Faculty connections include on-campus and off-site events organized by the associate vice president for Faculty and Belonging. These opportunities are intended to foster relationships and help create a sense of belonging and community among faculty.
Drawing on input from faculty, the associate vice president for Faculty and Belonging will host once-a-month lunch connections in the Tudor Room and IndyConnect (or Naptown) to connect with colleagues who live in Indianapolis. We will continue to have larger gatherings (in-person and virtual) that connect faculty to the broader community of scholars across our region. To prepare for our time together, RSVPs are required for all events.
These are group-centered volunteer experiences and opportunities where faculty members can work together on a community-oriented goal. Efforts range from assisting in Hoosiers Outrun Cancer to volunteering in a myriad of experiences provided throughout the Indianapolis area. Faculty members are encouraged to identify opportunities that involve volunteer assistance.
Several faculty live in Indianapolis. We will organize a small group day trip to Indianapolis once a semester to accommodate these connections. The opportunities for Bloomington faculty to connect with non-IUB faculty at events scheduled on the regional campus can also be organized upon request. IUI faculty are invited by the AVPFB to small-group gatherings with other minoritized faculty and/or to attend cultural events together in Indianapolis.
The purpose of Tudor Room Tuesday/Wednesday is to offer an opportunity for small groups of faculty to get to know each other on a personal level. As a guest of OVPDEI, these lunches will be informal but may include an icebreaker to facilitate conversation. We will meet twice a month, during certain parts of the semester.
