Indiana University is pleased to support the Indiana Black Expo Summer Celebration, one of the country’s largest African American cultural events. For more than five decades, IU has participated in this week-long event, with this year’s experiences held June 27-30, including the Education Conference, the Corporate Luncheon, and a three-day exhibition.
“Indiana University is deeply committed to cultivating an environment that advocates inclusion and equity for all,” says James C. Wimbush, IU’s vice president for diversity, equity and inclusion, interim IUB vice provost for diversity and inclusion, and Johnson Professor for Diversity and Leadership.
“That commitment is the driving force behind IU’s position at the forefront of diversity efforts in higher education and its long tradition of opening doors for minoritized and historically excluded groups. As part of this commitment, IU continues to be a proud supporter of the Indiana Black Expo,” he says.
Volunteers play an essential role in IU’s presence at IBE. Current IU staff and faculty are invited to represent the university at various IBE events and programs. This includes serving on the planning committee and volunteering during the three-day exhibition. In addition, as a volunteer, you’ll have the opportunity to connect youth and families across the state to IU!
To participate, visit the online sign-up form to register for roles, dates and times that work best for you. IU community members interested in attending the Education Conference on June 27, 2024, can register online.
