Indiana University’s 2024 Traditional Powwow, customarily scheduled for the first weekend of April, has been canceled this year as IU and the extended community prepare to participate in Solar Eclipse 2024.
Information regarding the 2025 Powwow will be released at a later date.
As a complimentary experience, the First Nations Educational & Cultural Center and the Pacific Islander Student Association will host their second annual event, Party for the Pasifika, on January 27, 2024, at the Indiana Memorial Union.
This free event includes a host of fun and engaging activities, including workshops, dinner, dancing, and a Pacific/Reggae/Jawaiian fusion concert featuring HI Risk Faktor and the legendary Kapena!
All events will be held in the IMU's Solarium, with the concert taking place in Alumni Hall next door. The schedule of activities is as follows:
- 1 p.m. Hawaiian music workshop
- 3 p.m. Maori Poi making and dance workshop
- 6:30 p.m. Hawai’i food dinner
- 8 p.m. Kapena and HI Risk Faktor Concert
