IU Bloomington’s 21st Century Scholars Program and Community & School Partnerships, programs of the Office of the Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Multicultural Affairs, are launching a new college readiness program for rising high school juniors and seniors. The program focuses on promoting college and career readiness skills by hosting a series of workshops and activities that share important resources and tips to support the transition from high school to college and career. The program activities are also designed to help complete Learn More Indiana’s Scholar Success Program requirements which are open to all high school students, including those registered for Indiana’s 21st Century Scholars Program.
Explore IU campuses and resources designed to help you succeed.
Through our program, you and your student will receive information about Indiana University’s two core campuses – IU Bloomington and IU Indianapolis. Programming will include presentations with representatives from our admissions and scholarships offices, as well as tours of each campus. Students will also learn about how we ensure that our campuses create a welcoming and inclusive environment for students, faculty, and staff. Students will also learn about the college resources available to those who qualify for the 21st Century Scholarship.
Expand your horizons by learning about college pathways.
There are a lot of factors to think about when considering and preparing for a college education. What careers or degree programs are your student interested in? How much are tuition and fees? What about housing and other associated costs? What type of co-curricular and extra-curricular opportunities does your student want and what do you want for them? The process can be overwhelming. The High School Explorers program is designed to help your student think through all of these options and practice activities that will help clarify the application and college-going experience.
Experience life as a college student from current IU students.
Nothing compares to actually experiencing life as a college student than hearing and learning first-hand about how current students navigate life on a college campus. Participants of the High School Explorers program will work with current IU students to learn about the academic and the social side of being a student at IU Bloomington and IU Indianapolis. Through conversations about their own experience, IU students, faculty, and staff will share how the college classroom differs from the high school experience, and talk about opportunities that students have to participate in co- and extra-curricular activities that support social, emotional, and professional development of students.
Excel in pursuing your passions by discovering what makes you uniquely you.
At IU, we are not just preparing students to receive a degree, but to prepare them for their professional life after college as well. We take a holistic approach in teaching students how to succeed, and that starts with helping students identify what makes them unique and what drives their passions. Through the High School Explorers program, students will work with career development specialists at IU to reflect on their values, interests, passions, and skills and how each align with their academic and career goals.
