Election Day
While some of you may have already voted—either by mail or during the period of early voting—it is vitally important that we recognize the importance of voting. It is the cornerstone of our democracy and one of the many ways individual citizens can make their voices heard. When you vote in this election, you are not just voting for the president. You are voting for federal, state, and local officials as well. These elections can and will impact the communities we live in, and it is important you vote for the individuals you believe have not only your best interests at heart but your community as well.
I also want to encourage you to use the many resources, such as the Community Support Network hosted by the Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center staff, as well as attend events and gatherings that are planned on campus to support our IU community today and in the days following the election. Here are a few; please visit election.iu.edu for a complete list and more information.
- Asian Culture Center and LGBTQ+ Culture Center Virtual Office Hours: Election Support, Nov. 3-6
- Conversation With IU Cultural Center Directors: Post-2020 Election, Nov. 5
- Embodying Contemporary Native Identity: Mind, Body, and Spirit hosted by First Nations Educational & Cultural Center, Nov. 9,11,13
Sincerely,
James C. Wimbush
