2020 Spring Semester

Celebrating Our Seniors

To the graduates of 2020,

Graduating from college is a significant life accomplishment and whether you are an undergraduate, graduate, or professional student, you should be proud. Please take a moment to reflect on your achievements and share your success with family and friends who have supported your academic journey.

Through your academic work, leadership, activism, and community service, you are leaving both the community and the university a better place, continuing a remarkable legacy that students at IU have built over decades. These accomplishments do not disappear upon graduation but form the foundation for the work of generations of IU students to come. Thank you for all that you have done to further this legacy.

As new graduates, the future may seem daunting. However, I assure you that the success you have found at IU has prepared you for whatever may come next. You have developed personally, academically, and professionally, positioning yourself for excellence while discovering new passions along the way. As you embark on the next step of your journey, know that you are well ready for this moment.

And lastly, I hope you will consider ways to continue your relationship with Indiana University, such as volunteering as a mentor, sharing your talents, or investing in future generations of students.

Congratulations graduates.

- James C. Wimbush, Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Multicultural Affairs; Dean of The University Graduate School; and Johnson Chair for Diversity and Leadership.
